OUR HISTORY

OUR Credit Union has provided financial services to individuals, families and businesses within our community since 1970.

In 1970 the credit union was chartered to serve the savings and loan needs of the Wolverine Worldwide employees and their families. The credit union operated in an old farm house on courtland drive shared with Wolverine World Wide medical staff.  This old farm house still stands today as seen below.

 Original credit union location:

In June of 1983 the credit union announced it's plans to expand and relocate adjacent to the farm house. The move was made to provide a more professional atmosphere, more confidentiality, and more services. At this time Credit Union membership was limited to Wolverine employees, and their families, as well as Wolverine World Wide subsidiaries.

The credit union operated as Wolverine Worldwide Employees Federal Credit Union until 1995 when there was a charter change and name change to Rockford Community Federal Credit Union. This change allowed the credit union to serve individuals living or working in the Rockford city limits, and also those living or working in Algoma, Courtland, Cannon, and Plainfield townships, north of the Grand River.  This change also brought official endorsement from the Rockford Planning Commission to approve site plans for a new location. Groundbreaking for the new location at 3 N Monroe took place in June of 1995. This allowed for increased accessibility for locals and additional community exposure.

Below is an archived article from May of 1995:

With the growth of the Credit Union additional space was needed, so on Oct 31, 2001, Rockford Community Federal Credit Union held a groundbreaking ceremony.  This additional space would allow for expansion and renovation of the building.

Below is an article archived from Rockford Squire:

Our current location at 3 N monroe continues to proudly serve the Wolverine World Wide Employees, their family members, the City of Rockford, and the surrounding communities.  With ovewr 3200 members we continue to strive and grow and look forward to remaining local & loyal for generations to come!
